SUMMARY:Swingout Sunday -  Tranky Doo Workshop and Afternoon Dance
DESCRIPTION:There are two parts to this afternoon –\n Part 1 – 1pm to 4pm – Learn the Tranky Doo – £15 \nThis is a 3-hour work shop (with breaks for coffee!!) \nThis  workshop is aimed at anyone wanting to learn this fabulous routine. \n  Part 2 – 4pm to 7pm – Afternoon Dance £7 \nPrice for both £20.00\n\nThere is a licensed bar from 4pm to 7pm and Free Tea/Coffee \nA great wooden dance floor – maximum numbers 60 and mostly FREE parking. \nGuest Teacher – Ollie Parham – Cardiff Lindy Hoppers \nOllie is based in Bristol and teaches with his lovely wife Helen.  They run classes and events in and around the Cardiff area.  They have also been seen on many occasions performing across the country and at numerous social dances around Bristol Gloucester and Cardiff. \n\nWhat is the Tranky Doo?     \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzY1SLL9xOw\nThe Tranky Doo is even more fun than it sounds! \nA silly series of mostly jazz steps\, this line dance was choreographed by Pepsi Bethel in the Savoy Ballroom during the 1940’s. Lindy hoppers will often spontaneously begin this routine and\, much like the Shim Sham\, individuals will join in once they recognize its beginning moves.  \nTraditionally the song was danced to Erskine Hawkins Tuxedo Junction\, a mellow tune\, but the routine’s versatility allows it to be danced to a number of more upbeat songs such as Ella Fitzgerald’s Dipsy Doodle. SUMMARY:Swingout Sunday - Beginners Aerials Workshop and Afternoon Dance
DESCRIPTION:Swingout Swindon presents:\nBeginners Aerials Workshop and Social Dance \nGuest Teachers – Double UK Lindy Hop Champions: Graeme and Ann \nGraeme & Ann live in Bath and learnt to Lindy Hop in the 1990’s at the start of the Swing revival. Among their teachers were the Jiving Lindy Hoppers and the late\, great Frankie Manning. They have achieved national success and are twice U.K. Lindy Hop Champions. They have done a lot of T.V.\, video and film work including; BBC’s ‘Turn Back Time -The High Street’ – London Weekend’s ‘Barrymore Show’ – the title sequence for ‘Josie’ on Channel 5 – featured Lindy dancers in BBC’s ‘String of Pearls’~ a history of swing music – even a comedy dance routine with the late Rod Hull and Emu.\n\nThey were the choreographers for an animated jitterbug sequence in Aardman Animation’s major film release\, “CHICKEN RUN” \n\n\nGraeme and Ann work full time teaching and performing all over the country with their dance group ‘Hoppin’ Mad’ and currently run classes in Bristol and Bath. They have taught and performed in New York\, San Francisco\, Las Vegas\, Sydney\, Denmark\, Ireland and New Zealand. They have also taken part in the Miami Art Deco Festival and Derry Jazz Festivals.\n\n\nThis Aerials Workshop  will suit anyone who has thought about doing a few simple Aerials (lifts)  but didn’t know where to start!  These Aerials will be based on Lindy Hop lead-ins and you will be shown how to incorporate a few simple Aerials into your social swing dancing\n\n**Please note the Aerials Workshop is Couples Only**\nWorkshop –  2pm to 4pm    £15.00 \n Afternoon Dance –  4pm to 7pm   £7.00 \n Both  – £20.00 \n Licenced Bar from 4pm to 7pm \n **FREE Tea/Coffee** \n Tickets available from Erica and Cliff – 01793 340271 or erica@swingoutswindon.co.uk \n
